ITHS KL2 and Tuition Support Now Open

The Institute of Translational Health Science (ITHS) is pleased to announce that the KL2 Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Career Development Program and Tuition Support Fellows Program are now accepting applications for positions starting in Summer 2010.

The ITHS KL2 Program is a major initiative supported by the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) that has been carefully designed to develop a new cadre of clinical and translational researchers. The ITHS KL2 Program provides rigorous training in clinical and translational research for senior fellows, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty. This program will train researchers to perform rigorous research on human subjects, ranging from early translational work, to clinical trials, to health services and epidemiological research.

The ITHS KL2 Program will provide 75% or up to $85,000 in salary support and tuition support for those interested in pursuing an advanced degree in clinical and translational science for up to 4 or 5 years for members of your department. Schools/departments/divisions appointing KL2 Scholars will be required to provide institutional support for any KL2 Scholar whose salary support for their committed ITHS KL2 effort exceeds $85,000.

The goal of the ITHS Tuition Support Fellows Program is to enhance the fellowship programs offered to physicians and other health-care professionals who wish to become independent clinical researchers. The program provides tuition support for four quarters (with the possibility of up to seven quarters) of intense training leading to an MS or MPH degree in Epidemiology or Health Services from the School of Public Health.

We are strongly encouraging applications from individuals who would be interested in becoming ITHS KL2 Scholars or Tuition Support Fellows from all of the health science schools: the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Social Work.

The most competitive applicants will be those who are currently in research fellowship and post-doctoral positions, or junior faculty members who are in their first 2 years.

The application deadline is October 15, 2009. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.iths.org/education/kl2 for information regarding the KL2 Program or http://www.iths.org/node/11 for information regarding the Tuition Support Fellows Program.
