This is a great fellowship opportunity offered through The Graduate School and funded by a generous endowment from the UW Retirement Association (UWRA). The application deadline is February 24, 2009.
The UWRA Graduate Student Fellowship will provide one 9-month fellowship to support graduate students of outstanding academic merit who have a demonstrated academic and personal interest in aging-related issues or concerns. The fellowship will provide a monthly stipend equivalent to the PDTA 2 level (currently $1718/month) from 9/16/2009 - 6/15/2010. GAIP health insurance and a quarterly tuition waiver are included for that period.
At the time of application, students must be matriculated in a UW graduate degree program and not in their last year of study. The recipient of the award must be enrolled in full-time credits (at least 10) in each quarter during the 2009-2010 academic year. Students graduating mid-year will not be considered. Students in fee-based programs are eligible but tuition waiver coverage would work differently.
Please see our website at http://www.grad.washington.edu/fellow/UWRA%20Fellowship.htm for further information. Detailed on that page are also the application requirements and process (statements, letters of recommendation, etc.) as well as criteria for selection.
The selected recipient will be required to attend the UWRA luncheon on April 30, 2009. They will also be asked to give an informal presentation to UWRA members on their research/academic and personal interests related to aging during the year of the award.
