About the scholarship:
The Washington City/County Management Association Scholarship (For the 2010-2011 Academic Year)
The 2010-2011 Washington City/County Management Association Scholarship is a $2,500 educational fellowship for the 2010 - 2011 Academic Year. One graduate student from a Washington, Oregon or Idaho university will be awarded $2,000 to be used for his or her school related expenses. In addition, the recipient will be awarded:
• WCCMA membership
• Up to $500 towards WCMA Summer Conference attendance, August 17-20, Sun Mountain Lodge, Winthrop, WA
• International City/County Management (ICMA) may offer complimentary membership and discounted attendance at their annual conference, October 17-20, in San Jose/Santa Clara County, California; and
• Mentoring by a city or county manager
City and County management practitioners recognize the prestige of the WCCMA Scholarship and the honor it carries for the student and the academic institution he or she represents.
Eligibility Criteria
The primary objective of the WCCMA Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students who have chosen to pursue a graduate degree in public administration and who have a desire to work in city or county management. Applicants must: (1) reside in Washington State, (2) have a bachelor's degree, (3) be enrolled in or accepted for admission to a graduate school in Washington, Oregon or Idaho, and (4) demonstrate a serious commitment to pursue a career in local government.
Preference will be given to graduate students pursuing a degree in public administration, public affairs, or public policy.
