Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in the history of early modern North American and/or the Atlantic world, 2011-2013, at the USC-Huntington Early Modern Studies Institute.
The USC-Huntington Early Modern Studies Institute seeks applications for a two-year Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in the history of early modern North America and/or the Atlantic world, c. 1500 to c. 1800. The annual salary is $58,000, with a $2,000 research/travel allowance annually. The Institute, founded in 2003, is a partnership between the University of Southern California and the Huntington Library in nearby San Marino, California. The Institute sponsors 75 to 90 scholarly presentations each year, has an annual workshop with the William and Mary Quarterly each May, an annual conference in April or May, and sponsors a book series on “The Early Modern Americas” with the University of Pennsylvania Press. The fellow will teach one course per semester at USC, have research space at the Huntington, and will be expected to participate in Institute programs relevant to the fellow’s interests. Candidates must have completed all of the requirements for the Ph.D. by August 15, 2011.
